- Unit Training Reservation

- PT reservations will be scheduled by calling Knight Pool during operating hours, for hours between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Reservations are for a double wide (2 lanes), on sides of pool.
- Reservations outside of the PT hours, but during operating hours must be requested with a standard memorandum, stating: Requested date, time frame, training being conducted, and number of personnel.
- Request must be made at least two weeks prior, and only set once approved by management.
- If training is requested outside of normal operating hours, labor cost of lifeguards must be covered by unit training funds.

New Pre-Requisites for the Lifeguard training: (Must successfully complete to move on with course)
TIMED EVENTS within one-minute and forty-seconds
1. Starting in water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water (No Goggles). Surface dive 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
2. Return to surface and swim 20 yards on the back to starting point, while holding object with two hands and keeping face out, at, or near the surface.
3. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
SWIM-TREAD-SWIM
1. Jump in water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed).
2. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only legs.
3. Swim 50 yards, using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
4. Be at least 15-years-old.
- Lifeguard courses are Blended Learning: 6 hours of online training, plus 21.5 hours in person training, totaling 27.5 hours.
- Online training cannot be reassigned or transferred if class changes and must be restarted/ redone for the new course dates.
- Payment does not guarantee certification. Successful completion of course and exams are required for certification.

SOLDIERS and OFFICERS
All enlisted soldiers are allowed to work for FMWR with their commanders’ permission.
Officers are not authorized to work for FMWR in a pay status. They can volunteer without receiving compensation.
***AR 215-3 Chapter 2-16 e states, “If the individual has not previously worked or if the previous employer fails to respond after two attempts, two personal (not a relative of the individual) or school references will be required. For ODM, approval of employment from the individual’s commanding officer satisfies this requirement”.
